Recycled cotton and polyester
Real love is what we feel about our re:loved collection. The yarn used for the styles in the re:loved by Skovhuus collection is made from 100% recycled fibres. This is our way to be conscious about our material choices and we will hopefully continue expand this collection every season.
When new fibres are produced, a lot of resources are used. By recycling fibres from waste production and consumption, we can make something new and beautiful, and save both resources.
The 100% recycled yarn is made from
- 65% pre-consumer, cotton
- 35% post consumer, polyester
The yarn used in our re: loved collection is certified and we make sure to have documentation for this.
What is post- and pre- consumer waste?
(a short version)
Post-consumer waste is a material or product, that is considered waste after an end-consumer is done using it. E.g.: plastic bottles that are collected and recycled into "new" polyester fibres, that can be made into yarns or new bottles.
Pre-consumer waste is generated before an end-consumer gets the final product. Within the textile industry there are many cut-offs/lefterovers when making a garment. Theese cut-offs can be collected and be recycled into new fibers and thereby new yarns.
Unique fashion?
We know that there is a vast waste from textile production in the fashion industry, and we are very proud to be able to use yarns that are made from this waste. The cotton is from pre-consumer waste – more specific “leftovers” from a production of items in a woven material. Thereby the colours in our final product can vary from batch to batch. Since the yarn is 100% recycled it is very common for colour variations to occur. We believe that every style from the re:loved collection speaks for itself and tells a story – it is simply unique. The recycled polyester gives the yarns better strength and comes from post-consumer waste.
